I am a representational artist with a twist - I combine realism with abstraction to capture the essence of my subjects. My work has been exhibited nationally, in both solo and group shows and a travelling exhibition. I work primarily with acrylic paint, the world's most versatile and innovative medium. Using acrylics keeps my artwork fresh, exciting and meets the challenges I create when expressing my vision. The versatility of acrylics enable me to mix media, combining my love of drawing and photography. I play with color and light to convey a mood and impart the feeling of awe. My inspiration springs from my curiosity and fascination with nature and the endless sense of awe and wonder it creates. I'm intrigued by the power and beauty of nature's grandeur, intricate details, colors, shapes, and textures that inform my work. Studying these elements I gain a greater understanding of the world around me. Each painting becomes a form of meditation, strengthening my connection to nature. My love of the great outdoors began in the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia where I grew up learning the importance of nurturing a connection with nature. I've always been an artist and studied painting, drawing, and photography. After college I moved to the Pacific Northwest where I spent most of my adult life exploring the wonders of the West. I now live in West central Georgia enjoying an entirely different landscape. Whether I'm travelling the world, visiting Yellowstone National Park or exploring my backyard, there is always something amazing to be shared with you. Although my subjects are specific, it's important to me that my paintings are open to interpretation, allowing you to find your own meaning based on your personal experiences.
